What is Astrological Tarot?

Astrological Tarot combines two systems:

• Tarot cards, which work with symbols, archetypes, and imagery,

• Astrology, which interprets zodiac signs, planets, and houses.

In astrological Tarot, each card is assigned to specific astrological elements (e.g. zodiac signs, planets, or elements such as fire/water). This is intended to make a reading more precise or symbolically “richer.”

Brief History

Tarot: Originated in 15th-century Europe as a card game. It was not until the 18th–19th centuries that it became a tool for divination.

Astrology: Has existed since antiquity; the modern Western form developed during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.

Combination of both systems: Became especially popular from the 19th and early 20th centuries through occult groups. Since then, astrological correspondences have been integrated into many Tarot deck systems.
